This coming Sunday we'll be able to see WBO Bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales (29-2, 12) making his first defense of the title as he battles Japan's Shohei Omori (18-1, 13) [大森 将平]. Today, ahead of their bout, the two men took part in their physical examinations.
The physical saw the two men under-go various tests and have various measurements taken, with those measurements suggesting that Omori is the man with all the phsyical advantages.
The Japanese challenger is almost 10cm taller and has almost a 10cm reach advantage, suggesting that he has the size to keep the bout at range and neutralise the champion.
The size advantage however is only one of the ingredients in the fight and it's hard to forget that Tapales did stop Omori in 2 rounds back in late 2015, and has shown his skills since then by winning the WBO world title. It's also worth noting that Tapales has significant advantages in experience, with more than three-times as many rounds as the challenger.
Tapales looks for a repeat as he takes on Omori!
