Earlier today Japanese Super Flyweight sensation Naoya Inoue (8-0, 7) set off for the US with a flight from Narita airport as he looks to attend the up coming WBO general assembly.
The WBO Super Flyweight world champion, and a man widely regarded as one of the sports emerging superstars, has gone over to try and increase his profile in the States and to try and get used to conditions in the country ahead of a planned US debut net year.
At the assembly it's thought Inoue will be giving a speech and will introduce himself in English as he looks to take the steps towards being a global star. At the moment it seems his English is limited but he will know that to truly sell himself to the US audience it will be something he needs to improve.
As we reported last week Inoue will be back in the ring on December 29th, as he makes the first defense of his title against Filipino slugger Warlito Parrenas (24-6-1, 21). If he wins he's expected to make his US debut in his very next fight, in a bout that is likely to be televised by HBO as they continue to build to an Inoue Vs Gonzalez super fight.
Ohashi officially announce Inoue vs Parrenas, Yaegashi vs Mendoza and Inoue Vs Dacquel!
