As many will know WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (8-0, 7) has spent all year on the proverbial sidelines courtesy of a hand injury that he suffered back in December, when he decimated Argentinian veteran Omar Andres Narvaez. Today however he suggested that the the injury is "healing smoothly" in a blog entry.
The comment was only a short one though it's the second time in recent days that he's said something suggesting that things are going well, and it seems more and more likely that we'll see him back in action in late summer.
At the moment there is still recovering and training to do however it seems clear that the youngster is on the mend and that he'll not be kept out of the ring for too much longer.
We've got our fingers crossed that we'll get an announcement in late June regarding Inoue's return, which we're expecting to come in August. Of course it's not a given but that certainly fits in with the time frame that we were told to expect earlier in the year and, from what we understand, nothing has changed too much since then.
