We've known since the start of the year that Thailand's exciting Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (33-4-1, 30) would be facing Mexico's Jose Salgado (34-2-2, 27) in a WBC Super Flyweight world title eliminator. One thing that hadn't been totally clear was the date of the bout.
Originally the rumour was May or June, then it was supposedly penciled in for May 22nd. Soon after that rumour it was revealed by those in the know that the bout would take place on May 28th.
Today the bout was finally announced with Nakornloung, the promotional outfit that looks after Srisaket along with WBC #1 ranked fly Nawaphon Por Chokchai and the very highly regarded Suriyan Sor Rungvisai, announcing the bout.
For those interested in watching the contest it will take place on Thai channel 7 at 14:00 local time and looks likely to be one of the best fights that Thailand will have this year.
The winner of the Srisaket/Salgado bout will become the mandatory contender for current champion Carlos Cuadras, who won the title with a technical decision over Srisaket in Mexico. Incidentally Cuadras went on to defend his title against Salgado with a technical draw. Both Cuadras's title winning effort and the Salgado bout ended due to nasty head clashes and both Srisaket and Salgado will be looking to make amends in a rematch with Cuadras.
