Japanese sensation Kosei Tanaka (5-0, 2) recently revealed that he was gearing up for a training camp ahead of his first WBO Minimumweight title defense.
The Japanese youngster has been in training in recent weeks though wasn't part of a focused camp. It now seems however that he knows who he'll be fighting next time out and has a general idea of the date of that bout. From what we understand the opponent will likely be Thailand's Pigmy Kokietgym (57-7-2, 23).
The youngster, who claimed the title earlier this year with a decision win against Julian Yedras in a bout that can be seen below, isn't expected to stay at Minimumweigth for long so this could be potentially his final bout at 105lbs. The 20 year old is growing into a man and it's fair to say that as his frame fills out he could end up at Flyweight or even Super Flyweight.
At the moment it appears that Tanaka is in great shape and that the training camp will be focused on preparing for his upcoming opponent, rather than focusing too much on making weight or fitness, it does however seem likely that the camp could start as soon as next week with an opponent being announced not too long afterwards.
