The very highly touted Kosei Tanaka (2-0) continued the very impressive start to his career earlier today as he out pointed world ranked Filipino Ronelle Ferreras (13-7-2, 5) and scored his second successive victory over a world ranked opponent.
Ferreras, ranked #12 by the WBA in their most recent updates, was made to look slow and limited by the talented Tanaka who moved wonderfully, unloaded all the punches in the book and even showed his darker side with headbutt that saw him deducted a point in round 7.
Tanaka was forced to take some heavy body shots though endured them without showing too much respect for Ferreras who wasn't treat like a world ranked foe but instead the next stepping stone for Tanaka.
Despite being clearly in the lead the Japanese fighter decided to put on a show in round 8 as the two men tore down the place and left the fans on their feet. By then though it was obvious Ferreras lacked the power to hurt Tanaka who looked very complete for a 2 fight novice.
Although some may question Tanaka's power it seems clear that he has the skills and ability to go a very long way and with the ambition he has shown here there is no doubt that he's going to get there very quickly, and if round 8 of this bout was anything to go by then he's going to be on a very exciting journey indeed.
