In July we reported the disappointing news that Kosei Tanaka (7-0, 4) [田中恒成] had to cancel preparations for a bout in September due to an on going injury, an injury that has essentially put his career on ice for the foreseeable future. Thankfully it seems like the injury is healing relatively quickly now and in a small interview the fighter gave he seemed very positive and upbeat.
Whilst the youngster didn't gave a date for his ring return he did say that he was hoping to become a 2-weight champion before the end of the year, and it seems clear that there are talks behind the seems about arranging a bout for the WBO Light Flyweight title against Mexican fighter Moises Fuentes (24-2-1, 13), possibly for December.
What the youngster did say is that he would be expecting a great fight on august 31st, when WBA Light Flyweight champion Ryoichi Taguchi faces Ryo Miyazaki, and it was indicated that he may be in attendance for the bout with both of the fighters clearly on his radar going forward. He will also be ringside on September 24th when his stablemate Shota Hayashi (27-5-1, 17) faces Noriyuki Ueno (18-13-5, 5) for the Japanese Super Flyweight title.
