This past Friday night American fans got their first chance to see WBA Super Flyweight champion Kohei Kono (31-8-1, 13) retain his title with a stirring 12 round decision over the controversial and enigmatic Koki Kameda (33-2, 18).
Since that win Kono has returned to his native Japan and suggested that he wants to whip out his passport once again to fight on the road.
The fighter didn't state explicitly on his next target but there was a clear suggestion that he was wanting to fight against Hong Kong star Rex Tso (18-0, 11) in Macau. That bout has spoke about for more than a year and could well take place in early 2016, if and when Top Rank decide to go back to the Asian gambling hub. Alternatively Kono may well travel to Hong Kong to face Tso.
