Last week we reported that a source had informed us that Japanese fighter Kazuto Ioka (17-1, 10) was going to defend his WBA Flyweight title in on September 27th against Roberto Domingo Sosa (26-2-1, 14). Today that bout was confirmed at a press conference in Osaka.
The bout, one of the worst kept secrets in boxing, will be Ioka's first defense of the belt he won earlier this year from Sosa's countryman Juan Carlos Reveco, with Reveco penciled in to fight the winner before the end of the year, due to a ruling by the WBA. That ruling makes it likely that Ioka will face Reveco in a rematch of their bout on December 31st.
The same press conference also stated some of the under-card action.
One of the under-card bouts will see Sho Ishida (19-0, 10) defending his Japanese Super Flyweight title against Hayato Kimura (23-7, 15), in what will be Ishida's third defense. Another bout will feature former WBA Minimumweight champion Ryo Miyazaki (23-1-3, 14) whilst another announced today will feature Masayoshi Hashizume (8-0, 5), though neither Miyazaki nor Hashizume have had their opponents announced.
We can also confirm that 17 year old star Riku Kano (6-1-1, 4) will also be on this show, though he wasn't included in today's announcement.
For those interested in attending the show it will take place at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium and will also be televised, in part, on TBS in Japan and will also likely have the main event televised in Argentina.
