Earlier this week we reported that Woz were set to host a world title triple header on December 31st in Kyoto, with the first bout to be announced for the show being the IBF Super Bantamweight title fight between Japanese challenger Yukinori Oguni (18-1-1, 7) [小國 以載] and defending champion Jonathan Guzman (22-0-0-1, 22).
Today we saw the second title bout from that showbeing announced, with Ioka gym holding a press conference and confirming Kazuto Ioka's (20-1, 12) [井岡一翔] next defense of the WBA Flyweight title will come against against Thailand's Stamp Kiatniwat (15-0, 6) [แสตมป์ กระทิงแดงยิม] on the same show.
The move is a slightly unexpected one with Woz taking the lead promotional position and getting Ioka in to Kyoto after years of fighting in Osaka on New Year's Eve, but the bout it's self has been known about for some time, with Japanese Thai sources all reporting the bout was a done deal.
The bout is a mandatory defense for Ioka and sees him up against a Thai teenager who currently holds the "interim", on paper that sounds good but the reality if that Stamp has struggled in his two bouts against Gregorio Lebron and will be a huge under-dog here against Ioka.
There are still question marks over what the third planned world title bout for this card will be, though speculation is that it could feature Woz's own hopeful Shohei Omori (17-1, 12) [大森 将平].
