Less than 3 weeks after losing his unbeaten record former 2-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka (14-1, 9) has returned to gym work trying to put the loss, to IBF Flyweight champion Amant Ruenroeng (13-0, 5), behind him.
From what we understand the 25 year old has been sounding very enthusiastic about improving himself and coming back stronger than ever. Of course there was disappointment in the loss, though much of the disappointment seems to have been about his actual performance which was described as "half hearted", a fair assessment.
Ioka's father has hinted that the fighter will be back later this year, probably in Autumn, and will remain in the Flyweight division. The obvious aim is to claim a Flyweight title and become a 3-weight world champion, though we imagine that will have to wait until next year at the earliest.
Sadly it does seem a bit unlikely that TBS will be showing boxing on New Years Eve again this year unless they can get Ioka into a world title fight for the end of the year, something we'd assume is unlikely given how he really does need to have a fight or two to rebuild and grow in to the weight before even considering another Flyweight world title fight.
