Earlier today in Japan we finally saw the official press conference to announce the upcoming IBF Minimumweight title bout between champion Katsunari Takayama (29-7-0-2, 11) and talented challenger Ryuji Hara (19-1, 11).
The bout, which takes place on September 27th in Osaka's Prefectural Gymnasium, is only of the most exciting bouts on paper this month and it seemed that both men are expecting something special when they step into the ring in a few weeks time.
Takayama, who is looking to make the second defense of his title, suggested that the bout would be a "fierce battle" and that both of them would do their best to win. Hara seemed to also suggest that the bout would be a good one, though also recognised Takayama's long career. In fact Hara spoke about how Takayama was fighting at world when he turned professional.
The two men did seem respectful of each other but also confident and we'll admit it, we're actually looking forward to this one a lot more than we're looking forward to the main event of the show, between Kazuto Ioka and Roberto Domingo Sosa.
