We are sad to report that WBA Flyweight champion Juan Carlos Reveco (34-1, 18) has been ruled out of a scheduled WBA title unification bout with Thailand's Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (34-2, 20) following an injury to his left arm around a week before the scheduled fight date.
The fight was demanded by the WBA earlier this year as a mandatory fight between "regular" champion and "interim" champion and was originally scheduled to go ahead on October 17th before being pushed back 2 weeks. Sadly however those 2 weeks have been where Reveco has suffered his injury and ruled him out of the contest.
From what we understand no rescheduled date has been mentioned with Reveco likely needing a full medical assessment to have any idea of when he will return to the ring. This could mean however that the bout mysteriously vanishes from the WBA's agenda given that several other, higher paying, fights have recently been mooted for Reveco, including a new years eve clash with Kazuto Ioka. We maybe cynical but we really wouldn't be shocked if the WBA made some peculiar decisions in the coming weeks regarding Reveco and the Flyweight division.
