Yesterday Dominican power puncher Jonathan Guzman (21-0-0-1, 21) landed in Japan, ahead of his upcoming fight with Japan's Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12) [和氣 慎吾], for the IBF Super Bantamweight title on July 20th. Upon arriving in Japan Guzman was full of confidence and seemed to be very clear in his self belief, stating that he will stop Wake whenever he wants.
That confidence was again seen today when the explosive Dominican took part in a public training session and continued to show that he truly believed there was no way Wake was going to survive with him and that he would be taking the belt back with him when he leaves Japan.
At the open training session Guzman spent several rounds shadow boxing, looking fast and explosive before further time was spent hammering the mitts, which sounded like explosions when he hit them.
Although confident Guzman did show some respect to Wake, and is aware that Wake must be a skilled fighter to be ranked #1. That however doesn't give Guzman any fear and he's very confident his KO run will continue here.
