A few weeks ago we revealed that Indonesian teenager Iwan Zoda (10-1, 9) would be back in the ring in August. Now we have the full details of Zoda ring return, which will take place on August 27th.
The 19 year prospect will be in action at the Borneo City Mall in Ketapang where he will face-off against Thai veteran Kaichon Sor Vorapin (25-15, 9), also known as Kajonsak Pothang, in a 10 round bout being fought at Flyweight.
The details on the over-all show are scarce but we are assured that the bout won't be the only one on the show, a good thing given that Kaichon has been stopped in his last 6 including a stoppage to Indonesian hopeful Tibo Monabesa back in April.
For Kaichon the hope will be to end his 7 year win-less run, which has featured loss to Ardin Diale and Walito Parrenas, and recapture the form that too him to wins against Young Gil Bae, Rey Megrino, Rocky Fuentes as well as a world title fight in the US against Hugo Fidel Cazares. As for Zoda the bout will be his first against a former world champion and he'll be looking to secure a 10 straight stoppage win and hoping to build on victories over Petchchorhae Kokietgym and Szilveszter Kanalas.
A win over the Thai might not prove Zoda's class but it will keep him busy, with the youngster having been inactive since April and having only fought 8 rounds all year. The hope is for him to land a big fight but his team don't want him to get ring rust whilst waiting.
