Japanese prospect Masayoshi Hashizume (11-0, 8) [橋詰 将義] continued his perfect start earlier today as he scored a 5th round TKO win over an opponent from Thailand.
The bout, on the under-card of the double header featuring Kazuto Ioka (19-1, 11) [井岡一翔] defending his world title against Keyvin Lara (18-1-1, 6) and the IBF Super Bantamweight title fight between Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12) [和氣 慎吾] and Jonathan Guzman (21-0-0-1, 21), saw Hashizume put under some pressure but come through without too many issues.
Hashizume shined early in the bout, boxing well for the first couple of rounds, but the Thai came back strong in rounds 3 and 4 to make Hashizume change his game plan slightly. He did that well and in round 5 he forced the referee to save the Thai who looked groggy.
The win for Hashizume could, potentially, move him towards a title fight in the near future with the OPBF and Japanese titles at both 112lbs and 115lbs likely to interest the Ioka prospect for either later this year, or early next year.
