Late last night saw the official weigh in for Saturday's Middleweight title clash between Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29) and Willie Monroe Jr (19-1, 6). The results of the weigh in saw Golovkin hitting the scales at 159lbs whilst Monroe was bang on the divisional limit at 160lbs.
For Golovkin this is the same weight that he was in 4 of his last 7 bouts and appears to be his "ideal fighting weight", despite the fact it's well within the limit. Interestingly he's not weighed in "on" the limit since he beat Gabriel Rosado back in January 2013. As for Monroe his weight was the same as he was last time out, when he comfortably beat Brian Vera, and also the same as he was in his impressive win against Vitaliy Kopylenko back in April 2014.
