Earlier today Watanabe held a press conference ahead of the September 21st Dangan Ladies card, which features a number of Watanabe gym fighters. One of the fighters attending the event was the unbeaten Ayumi Goto (4-0, 3) [後藤 あゆみ] who indicated where she was hoping to be in the near future.
The baby faced 28 year old will be fighting on September 21st against a Thai opponent in a 6 rounder. After that bout she will begin chasing the gold and looks to exchange blows with former world title challenger Tomomi Takano (8-2, 5) [高野人母美] in a bout for the OPBF Super Bantamweight title.
Although Takano's intentions aren't, and rarely are, clear it's obvious that Goto is on her way up and will be looking to claim the title whether or not it's around the waist of Takano later this year.
The heavy handed 23 year old would be stepping up massively to challenge Takano though those in and around the Watanabe gym fighter do have serious belief in her and will be trying to push her into title bouts possible as soon as December. As a fighter she's a novice with just 11 career rounds since debuting in November 2015 but with her skills, development, power and team the future is bright for her.
