We knew that a show on March 24th at the Korakuen Hall was set to feature a Japanese super Bantamweight title fight between champion Hidenori Otake and mandatory challenger Takafumi Nakajima. It now seems that that bout has been joined by a second title bout as OPBF Featherweight champion Hisashi Amagasa, pictured, has announced that he will be defending his title.
Amagasa, who upset former world champion Ryol Li Lee in October to claim the title, hasn't yet had his opponent named though we'd expect the bout to be an interesting one.
Ranked by both the WBO and WBC Amagasa is unlikely to want to risk his world ranking against a tough foe so we'd expect him in a relatively straight forward defense, possibly against OPBF ranked #1 fighter Vinvin Rufino from the Philippines. From the ranked fighters the only people we know won't be spoken about as possible opponents are Akifumi Shimoda, who has a world title fight set up, and Joel Brunker who looks likely to be making his name in America from now on.
It also appears that model-turned-boxer Tomomi Takano will also be fighting on the same show. It's expected that Tomomi will be fighting in her first 6 rounder though as with Amagasa no opponent has been named as of yet.
