As we reported earlier today both Akira Yaegashi (20-3, 10) and Roman Gonzalez (39-0, 33) took part in their preliminary physical screenings ahead of their official weigh in, and fight later this week. Surprisingly the two men were very similar in build and body type with the only notable difference being their neck and chest areas, which were both bigger on Yaegashi than on Gonzalez.
In terms of height Yaegashi had a 1.5cm advantage over his Nicaraguan counter part though this didn't result in any sort of a reach advantage with the men both having a 163cm reach.
In terms of real statistical advantages it's fair to say Gonzalez has more advantages than Yaegashi. Firstly Gonzalez is younger, fresher and although he has been in more fights he has fought marginally few rounds, courtesy of his power. He also has more title fight experience.
As for other advantages it's fair to say Yaegashi has home advantage with the fight being in Tokyo though this will be Gonzalez's 5th bout in Tokyo and his 8th in Japan, where he boasts a perfect record of 7-0 (5).
