Every so often we get a story about a former fighter having success outside of the sport. The most recent case of that seems to be recent of former Japanese Minimumweight champion Yuji Kanemitsu (15-2 7) who, from what we under-stand has had success on the water as he's began to make a name for himself as a boat racer.
Kanemitsu came to the attention of the international boxing world in 2009, when his career came to an end following a vicious bout with Masatate Tsuji, who sadly passed away from injuries suffered in the bout. Although Kanemitsu was the winner it also ended his career as he was found to have a blood clot on the brain and he swiftly chose to change profession from boxing to boat racing.
Earlier this week Kanemitsu was in the Japanese media for his success on the water where he has scored a notable win in a major race.
Although Kanemitsu is away from boxing it's nice to see the 32 year old continue to have success and we wish him all the best in the competitive world of boat racing.
