On Friday we get the chance to see Japan's Yu Kimura (18-2-1, 3) [木村 悠] making the first defense of his WBC Light Flyweight title, as he battles Mexican challenger Ganigan Lopez (26-6, 17) in what looks like a tough match up for the popular Teiken fighter.
Today the two men took part in their weigh in and both made weigh on their first attempt.
On the scales Kimura was the heavier man at 48.7kg, which is around 107⅓lbs. This was very similar to his title winning effort, last November against Pedro Guevara and he is said to have been very happy with the way he made weight.
Although the lighter man Lopez looked great and was 48.5kg, which is just under 107lbs, making weight very easily by the looks of things, in fact he had more than a full pound to spare. This was notably lighter than he was last time time, and was also lighter than he was in his previous world title bout, which took place last year against the aforementioned Guevara.
