One of the most interesting bits of news from one of our Thai sources is that there are negotiations for a major WBA Flyweight title bout between reigning champion Juan Carlos Reveco (33-1, 18) and interim champion Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (34-2, 20).
Whilst this bout isn't yet confirmed we're of the belief that it is likely to be confirmed in the coming weeks with negotiations said to be nearing their final stages.
From what we understand Reveco would be travelling to Saraburi province in Thailand and the fight will be arranged for July 3rd. It's not a lot of time between now and the speculated date but from what we understand both men are prepared to go for the date with just the financials to be sorted.
For Yodmongkol this will be his toughest fight, and we did think he was fortunate to get the decision over Takuya Kogawa earlier this year.
Reveco is a well schooled Argentinian who has claimed world titles at both Light Flyweight and Flyweight. His sole loss was a controversial one, dropping a close decision to Brahim Asloum, though he has scored notable victories over the likes of Nethra Sasiprapa, Karim Guerfi, Masayuki Kuroda and Ricardo Nunez. For those who haven't seen him he's quick, accurate defensively sound and ha a very intelligent body attack that has become his trademark tool.
Whilst we do understand that Reveco does have other options open to him, this is the one he looks likely to take.
