On Sunday fight fans will see an IBF Light Flyweight unification bout, as regular champion Akira Yaegashi (25-5, 13) [八重樫 東] battles interim champion Milan Melindo (35-2, 12) in a mouth watering match up between two top tier fighters.
Today the two under-went their physical examinations for the bout and, thankfully, no issues were found with either fighter.
At the physical it was shown that Yaegashi was the naturally bigger man. He was marginally taller, at 159.5cm to Melindo's 157.5cm, his neck was 2.5cm thick at 37.5cm around, and his chest was a notable 4cm thicker, at 88cm. The one area where Melindo was the bigger man was his reach, which was 166cm compared to Yaegashi's 164.5cm.
At the weigh in both fighters seemed relaxed and confident, with Melindo admitting he's enjoying the sites of Japan and it seems he has warmed well to the country since arriving their ahead of the fight. As for Yaegashi his team seemed happy about how he has developed in recent times and strangely his reach has grown from his previous bout.
