On Sunday Japanese fight fans will see an IBF Light Flyweight unification bout, as regular champion Akira Yaegashi (25-5, 13) [八重樫 東] battles interim champion Milan Melindo (35-2, 12). Today the two fighters took part in a special event, the final signing cereomony or their bout, and both men sounded like their were very confident of winning this weekend's big bout.
Yeagashi sounded like a grizzled veteran who had seen it all before and came across as a man full of self beliel, as if he saw Melindo, a very talented as just another opponent. It was as if the champion's cnfidence had seen him already over-looked hi Filipino challenger, who was just the next oopponent of the champion.
As for Melindo he seemed confident as well and sttated he was in good conditiion and thta he was happy to fight a fighter like Yaegashi on the road in fact he was looking forward to the stylistic mash up of himself and the Japanese warror, and it's clear that Melindo will favour his chances of becoming the sole IBF champion at 108lbs.
