Next week fans will get the chanc e to see WBC Minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin (40-0, 15) [วันเฮง ไก่ย่างห้าดาวยิม] return to the ring as he looks for the next defense of his title. The unbeaten Thai will be seeking the 4th defense of his title as he takes on Japan's speedy Go Odaira (12-4-3, 1) [大平 剛] though already appears to be eyeing up his following defence.
According to reports in the Thai media it seems that if Wanheng sees off Odaira he will be eyeing up a bout, later in the year, with Mexican contender Saul Juarez (22-4-1,12).
Juarez will be familiar with Filipino fans due to his bout in 2014 with Milan Melindo, which he narrowly lost, and since then he has gone 2-0-1 with both wins being upsets over former champion Adrian Hernandez and the draw being a technical draw after 42 seconds against another former world champion, Oswaldo Novoa.
It could be a risky move by Wanheng's team to already be talking about Juarez though it does seem to be a sign of confidence on behalf of the Thai who is a big favourite against Odaira.
