Over the past few days we've seen the situation regarding the WC Minimumweight title fight between defending champion Oswaldo Novoa (14-4-1, 9) and mandatory challenger Wanheng Menayothin (35-0, 11) change ever so slightly.
Originally we were lead to believe the fight was agreed to take place in Thailand in the last week of September. This has now proven to be incorrect.
Instead what we've seen is the fight go to purse bids, which were won recently by Virat Vachirarattanawong with a huge bid of $173,000, massive for a fight at 105lbs. The Thai promoter has since said that the fight will be in November, though no exact date has been stated, and that it will take place in Chonburi province.
No other details about the card have yet been released but it's nice to know that these two will be meeting for sure before the year is out.
For Wanheng this will be his first world title opportunity after previously holding Youth and International WBC titles. For Novoa this will be his second defence since scoring his career defining victory over Xiong Zhao Zhong back in February.
