Over the last week or so we've been hearing how a deal has been building for a rematch between Takashi Uchiyama (24-1-1, 20) [内山 高志] and WBA Super Featherweight "super" champion Jezreel Corrales (20-1-0-1, 8). Now it seems that deal is done, with Corrales' promoter, Rogelio Espiño announcing the bout over Twitter.
The bout, as previously reported, is to take place on December 31st in Japan. Although not explicitly stated by Espino it will be in Tokyo and will be televised in Japan by TV Tokyo.
For Uchiyama the bout will giving him a chance to avenge his sole defeat, though "KO Dynamite" will be the under-dog coming into this, not a surprise given the way that Corrales beat him in just 2 rounds back in April.
The bout is expected to be announced by Watanabe in the near future and should see the Japanese promoter also announce the next defense of the WBA Light Flyweight title by defending champion Ryoichi Taguchi (25-2-1, 11) [田口良一].
