Earlier today fight fans in Macau saw local hopeful Kuok Kun Ng (11-0, 6) take on his biggest test to date, as he battled Thai veteran Patomsuk Pathompothong (33-6-1, 20).
On paper the bout was a huge step up in class for the unbeaten 26 year old, dubbed the "Macau Kid" and as the bout went on it began to look like too much of a step up. Instead of Ng's youth being the key it seemed liek Patomsuk used his experience to exploit holes in Ng's game and landed the better shots, on a regular basis.
After the 6th round it seemed like Patomsuk, at the very least, deserved a draw. He seemed to feel he had done more than enough to take a victory and it looked almost as if he was expecting the referee to raise his hands when the score cards were announced.
Unfortunately for the Thai he wasn't on the right end of the decision, with Ng getting his hand raised instead, keeping his unbeaten record intact and moving him onwards and upwards. Despite the controversial loss for the Thai we suspect he'll continue to hover around the regional title scene and may even get a rematch with Ng down the line.
