Earlier this year Terumi Nuki (9-1, 6) [ぬき てるみ] scored the most significant win of her career to become the OPBF Super Flyweight champion, stopping Thai fighter Nongbua Lookpraiaree in 3 rounds to claim the title. Today saw Nuki's next bout being announced, and it'sa monstrous step up for the Hiroki Ioka gym promoted fighter, who will face one of the biggest stars in female boxing.
The announcement today is that Nuki will return to the ring on July 8th to take on WBC female Bantamweight champion, and Mexican boxing queen, Mariana Juarez (45-9-4, 17). It will be Nuki's first world title challenger and will also see Juarez attempt to make her first defense of the WBC title she won earlier this year.
Nuki, a 28 year old from Osaka will be fighting outside of Japan for the first time, and fighting outside of Osaka for just the second time in her career with the bout set to take place in Jalisco, Mexico.
For Juarez the bout sees her look to continue her long and illustrious career, which has seen her claim WBC world titles at Flyweight and Bantamweight, and take on a real who's who of female boxing, including Naoko Fujioka, Myung Ok Ryu, Irma Sanchez, Shindo Go, Tenkai Tsunami, Melissa McMorrow and Daniela Romina Bermudez.
