Tomorrow fight fans in Hyogo will get the chance the chance to see WBO female Light Flyweight title bout as as unbeaten Japanese fighter Kei Takenaka (11-0, 3) [竹中 佳] battles unbeaten Australian Louisa Hawton (6-0, 3), with the two trading blows for the currently vacant title.
Today the fighters took part in their weigh in with both making the weight with ease.
On the scales Takenaka was around 107.4lbs, well under the divisional limit of 108lbs. The weight her lowest in more than 2 years, and was considerably lighter than she was last time out when she fought a stay busy bout against Daorueng Pakkhetanang. Despite being well under the weight there is no suggestion she has over-trained, instead it seems the weight has dropped due to hard but correct training .
Hawton on the other hand was under 106.5lbs, which is a mile under the limit, but still a career high and sees her putting on almost 4lbs since her last bout, a win over Thailand's Yodying Superchamps. Whilst she has come in at a career high no one will be questioning her conditioning with the Australian looking incredible at the weigh in and it's clear she has put the weight on responsibly. The question is whether she can cope with her naturally bigger, and heavier, Japanese opponent.
