We're sad to report that experienced Japanese official Suehiro Tsuchiya has passed away, at the age of 58.
Circumstances regarding Mr Tsuchiya's passing haven't been made full clear as of yet though he passed away on May 27th in Japan, with sources reporting that he had been suffering ailing health for a while and that he had been suffering worsening illness since the start of this year.
Like many referees from the East he's not well known in the west but in Japan he was one of the most established referees and had become a popular fixture in Tokyo where he had regularly been in charge of title fights, with the most recent being last year's Japanese Light Welterweight contest between Hiroki Okada and Cristiano Aoqui. He had also been a regular judge and he acted as a judge for the Japanese Featherweight title fight between Shota Hayashi and Akifumi Shimoda, which took place in December.
It was also reported that Mr Tsuchiya's funeral would take place next week, on Wednesday June 1st.
We would like to send our thoughts to Mr Tscuhiya's family and friends for their loss.
