Over the last 24 hours we've seen sources in Pakistan report that the WBC have ordered a WBC Flyweight world title eliminator between unbeaten Korean based Pakistani Muhammad Waseem (5-0, 3) and the once beaten Oscar Cantu (14-1, 1).
The bout is said to be in negotiations betweem the two sides with Cantu's team looking to secure the contest for Texas, where he'sbased, and Waseem's team looking to get the bout in South Korea. If they haven't agreed a deal by the end of February the bout likely head to purse bids.
At the moment it seems like Waseem's team are waiting on financial pledges to be met before making a sizable offer to get the bout in Korea. The reports from Pakistan is that Korean promoter Andy Kim is awaiting Pakistani funds but accepts that without them the bout will likely be heading to the US.
The winner will be in line to face the winner of the March 4th WBC world title bout between Nawaphon Por Chokchai (36-0, 28) [นวพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] and Mexican Juan Hernandez (33-2, 24), with sources reporting that that is Waseem wins his team will actively attempt to get a title bout before the end of 2017.
