Tomorrow Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall, and subscribers to boxingraise, will get the chance to see heavy handed Japanese slugger Shuhei Tsuchiya (20-4, 17) [土屋 修平] face off with Filipino Rex Olisa (11-29-1, 8), in what should serve as little more than a tune up for Tsuchiya.
Today the two men took part in their weigh in for that bout and both made weight, with room to spare.
Tsuchiya was was around 134½lbs at the weigh in, and although he looked in good shape it did look like he had a small bit of weight that he could have lost, had he wanted to. Amazingly this is his lightest weight in more than 5 years, actually tying his career lowest, and is significantly lighter than he was for his 2014 bloodbath with Leonardo Zappavigna.
As for Olisa he was well under the limit, coming in at close to 133½lbs, and even then he looked flabby at the weight and very short. It is worth noting that he is a blown up fighter form a much, much lower weight class.
