Today in Japan is a special day, it's the first day of Spring and the country celebrates with a special festival, "Setsubun", which involves people throwing beans in an attempt to bring good fortune and scare off evil spirits.
In Kobe there was a trio of notable Shinsei gym fighters taking part in the ceremony.
They were current OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Shun Kubo (9-0, 7) [久保 隼], current IBF female Minimumweight champion Etsuko Tada (15-2-2, 4) [多田 悦子] and Japanese icon Hozumi Hasegawa (35-5, 15) [長谷川 穂積].
The three, who were dressed in ceremonial outfits, threw the beans to an audience with Kubo admitted that he didn't want to stand out too much. Although Kubo may have felt somewhat self concious the public bean throwing is regarded as an serious honour and it's clear that his success last year, including his title win, has helped him earn such an honour.
