Over the weekend we'll see a new WBO Flyweight champion being crowd as China's Zou Shiming (8-1, 2) [邹市明] faces Thailand's once beaten Kwanpichit Onesongchaigym (39-1-2, 24) [ขวัญพิชิต 13เหรียญเอ็กซ์เพลส].
The bout might look like a msimatch in favour of the Thai on paper, though as we all know paper only tells a small amount of the story here, especially as Shiming is the fighter who inflicted Kwanpichit's sole defeat.
Given Shiming's dominant win over Kwanpichit when the two men first fought there is little shock to see Shiming priced as the betting favourite, however at 1/25 to win he's almost an unbackable favoute. For Kwanpichit the best odds available for the win are a large 13/1, however those odds do show just just how unlikely he is to win here. For those interestedin the draw that has been priced as large as 35/1.
For those interested in the method of victory Shiming is 1/3 to claim a decision, as he did in the first bout with Kwanpichit and 9/4 for a stoppage. Interestingly Kwanpichit it 16/1 to win by either a stoppage or a decision.
The bout is expected to go the distance, with the "over-unders" being set differently by various bookies. At the time of writing the bout to go over 9.5 rounds is 3/10 whilst the bout to end in the first 9.5 rounds is 12/5.
Kwanpichit is also known as Prasitsak Phaprom.
