Tomorrow fight fans in Okinawa have the chance to see the highly touted Shawn Oda (5-0, 5) [小田 翔夢] fight for the first time since being crowned the 2016 Lightweight Rookie of the Year. Today Oda took part in his weigh in for the bout, a bout which will see him face off with Tienchai Sor Kanitsorn (2-8, 1).
On the scales Oda came in at 134.25lbs and looked in great shape for what will be his first 6 rounder. Although the bout is scheduled for 6 Oda has never actually been beyond 4 rounds, and has only had 12 career rounds, with his power having been too much for all of his opponents so far.
Tienchai came in heavier than the local hopeful, weighing in at 134.5lbs for the contest, and looked a little fleshy at the weigh in. For the Thai weight is a little less than he was last time out but is one of the heaviest weights of his career. This will be his 10th fight in Japan, where he has a 1-8 record, and he will be looking to avoid an 8th stoppage loss.
Sadly the bout doesn't appear to be set to be aired on any service, but hopefully fan came footage will allow us to follow Oda's promising career here.
