Earlier today fight fans at the Korakuen Hall saw 2012 Olympic star Satoshi Shimizu [清水 聡] pass his pro-test to claim a B license ahead of his September debut. Following that test his opponent for his September 4th bout was announced.
The announcement was that Shimizu's debut would be against former KBC Featherweight champion In Kyoo Lee (3-2, 1) [이인규], who won the KBC Featherweight title in 2004 with a win over Moon Sun Jung, as seen in the video below. From the records we can find Lee hasn't fought since that win, though with Korean boxing being a total mess there is a good chance he is more experienced than the numbers suggest.
Shimizu's debut will be 6 round bout set at 58KG's, which is just under 127.9lbs. This would make one assume that Shimizu's future lies at 126lbs going forward and not 130lbs. As a Featherweight he will be a very tall fighter and as seen today he towered over former former world title challenger Satoshi Hosono (32-2-1, 21) [細野 悟].
Video shows Lee's most notable bout to date, and we believe his most recent.
