Earlier today saw the weigh in for tomorrow's Japanese title fight at the Korakuen hall, between defending champion Satoshi Hosono (27-2-1, 20) and little known challenger Tatsuya Otsubo (8-6-1, 3). The weigh in saw both fighters make weight, though there was a little bit of drama.
Otsubo weighed in well under the limit at just 125¼lbs, a full ¾lbs under the limit. His weight was the lowest since he beaten Atsushi Hosogai back in September 2011, when he weighed 124¾lbs, though it should be noted that he has fought as a Bantamweight in the past.
Hosono on the other failed to make weight on his first attempt, coming in marginally over the limit. He immediately removed his pants and made the limit on a second try, weighing in at exactly 126lbs. Despite the slight mishap on the scales this was the 4th successive time that Hosono has weighed 126lbs, and the 11th time in 13 bouts.
For Hosono this will be his third title defense whilst Otsubo will be looking to claim a title in his first title bout.
