Sources in Thailand have informed us that negotiations have began for Amnat Ruenreong's (16-0, 5) next defense of the IBF Flyweight title.
The sources have informed us that Kiatkreerin, Amant's promotional team, have targeted a December date for the bout and are currently in talks with Japanese fighter Myung Ho Lee (19-4-1, 6).
Amnat, who won the title last year with a win over Rocky Fuentes, has already defended his belt 4 times with impressive wins against the likes of Kazuto Ioka and Johnriel Casimero. Whilst he is unbeaten, and did look good against Ioka and Zou Shiming, he was widely slated for him tactics last time out against Casimero. Aged 34 however he's not expected to look like a young whippersnapper and is obviously going to use his craftiness, experience and strength to his advantages against fighters that he can bully.
As for Lee, if the negotiations are successful at least, this would be his first world title bout. He has however mixed in decent company in the past and ran Edgar Sosa very close in 2012 whilst also being competitive with Rocky Fuentes and Rey Megrino. Notable he also holds a win over Shon Ono and fought to a draw, just last year, with Hirofumi Mukai. Whilst not unbeaten he is on a 4 fight unbeaten run.
If this fight gets made, which sounds like it could, we'd expect an announcement by the end of October.
