The hard luck career of Filipino warrior Ricky Sismundo (30-9-3, 13) continued last night in Quebec, Canada, as Sismundo scored one of his most notable results, a draw with former world title challenger Dierry Jean (29-2-1, 20).
Sismundo, fighting for the second time this year, would have known he was up against it with the bout being held in in Jean's home city of Quebec but that didn't seem to be in Sismundo's mind in the ring. The Filipino warrior fought, as he always does, bringing the fight and managed to twice drop Jean in round 4 as he seemed on the verge of a major upset.
Sadly for Sismundo his major success in round 4 wasn't quite enough to persuade the judges to go against the home town fighter and as a result the bout ended in a split decision draw with one judge scoring the bout 76-74 for Jean, a really hard to under-stand score, another having it 76-74 to Sismundo, which seemed the most accurate card, and one judge having it 75-75, to bail Jean with a draw.
Sadly for Sismundo this was a second successive bout on the road where he will have felt hard done by, following a split decision loss to the touted loss to Jose Felix Jr in January.
