Today we saw the second day of the East Japan Rookie of the Year finals, with the winners set to meet the winners of yesterday show on November 13th.
In the first bout of the show fans saw Minimumweight Shuri Hasebe (5-3, 2) [長谷部 守里], who blew out Menji Matsumoto (1-7) [松本 憲治] in just 92 seconds. Matsumoto had some early moments but was dropped and the bout was stopped soon afterwards with the referee clearly feeling that Matsumoto was in no fit state to continue.
At Light Flyweight Yuya Gunji (2-0) [郡司 勇也] moved into the East Japan final, as he claimed a unanimous decision over Daisuke Sudo (3-4-2) [須藤 大介]. The cards varied here, but all were in favour of the 19 year old Gunji who always looked the better fight, despite being dragged into a war in the end.
Booking his place in the the Flyweight final was Daisuke Yamada (5-2, 1) [山田 大輔] as he scored a clear and dominant win over Naoko Inaba (4-4, 2) [稲葉 直樹], with the bout being a neat shut out win for the 31 year old.
At Super Flyweight fans had an ultra-competitive bout with Yukito Tomori (6-1, 1) [友利 優貴富] defeating Mirai Imagawa (3-3, 1) [今川 未来], with Imagawa surprising most with his gutsy and brave effort.
At Bantamweight Masato Niijima (5-1, 4) [新島 聖人] scored an expected stoppage win over Eiichi Matsumoto (2-3, 1) [松本 英一], who was stopped in the second round. Matsumoto needed saving as Niijima began to unload.
In the Super Bantamweight division we saw another stoppage as Tatsuya Matsumoto (6-2, 1) [松本 竜也] blew away the heavier handed Takayoshi Miyachi (5-2, 4)[宮地 隆佳] in 103 seconds.
The Featherweight division saw Hiroshi Niiza (4-1, 2)[新座 宏] claim a unanimous decision win over the previously unbeaten Ryosuke Inui (5-1, 1) [乾 諒介]. Niiza was aggressive through out and certainly deserved the win.
A much closer bout came at Super Featherweight where Hiroyuki Awata (6-3, 3) [粟田 祐之] took a majority decision over Shintaro Hirohama (5-4-3, 3)[廣濱 慎太郎], wjay helped make the bout so close was a point deduction for Awata in the final round, and it was almost a deduction that cost him the bout.
At Lightweight Ryuki Ishii (3-1, 2) [石井 龍輝] advanced with a third round KO against 37 year old Muneyoshi Kubo (3-2, 1) [久保 宗義].
The final bout on the show took place at Light Welterweight and saw another stoppage as Takahiko Kobayashi (5-1, 5) [小林 孝彦] scored an opening round KO win over Raiki Kameyama (4-4, 2) [亀山 磊輝], with this being Kobayashi's 5th successive stoppage win, and his 4th in a row.
Due to two bouts being cancelled we saw Welterweight Junpei Tsujimoto (0-1-1) [辻本 純兵] and Middleweight Tatsuya Aizu (2-7, 2) [会津 達也] progress to the East Japan final.
