Earlier today Japanese fans at the Korakuen Hall saw the first of two Rookie of the East semi finals, with the second of those to come on Wednesday.
At Minimumweight Tatsuya Tomioka (4-1, 1) [富岡 達也] progressed to November's final as he over-came Daisuke Sumita (2-1, 1) [墨田 大祐] with a majority decision.
The Light Flyweight finalist will be Tatsuhiro Toguchi (6-2, 5) [渡久地 辰優], who scored a 2nd round TKO win over Takuya Kihashi (4-4, 2) [木橋 拓也], with Kihashi needing to be saved by the referee after being dropped.
At Flyweight the heavy handed Junto Nakatani (7-0, 6) [中谷 潤人] took a 2nd round win over Satoshi Tanaka (1-2) [田中 公士], with Tanaka being retired at the end of the round.
Another puncher making a mark was Super Flyweight Ryoji Fukunaga (6-2, 6) [福永 亮次], as he scored a 3rd round TKO win against Rikiya Ono (3-2) [小野 力也], with the referee saving Ono soon after he was dropped.
The bout of the day came at Super Featherweight where Seiryu Takashi (6-3, 4) [利川 聖隆] claimed a thrilling split decision win over Yui Oikawa (4-3, 1) [及川 唯]. The bout was a seesaw bout through out and had fans on the edge of their seat
Another split decision came at Lightweight where Akira Morita (6-4, 2) [森田 陽] narrowly beat Naoki Koishi (4-3-1, 1) [小石 直輝]. This was another ultra-competitive fight with Morita just managing to do enough to score the win.
The shortest bout was at Welterweight were Ryota Toyoshima (5-1-1, 4) [豊嶋 亮太] took 70 seconds to defeat Toshinobu Mimura (5-2-1, 3) [三村 利伸], with the finish being an eye catching 1-punch KO blow that left Mimura on his knees.
Prior to the show started 5 of the scheduled bouts had been cancelled. The fighters to progress from those bouts were:
Haruaki Kamiya (5-0, 1) [神津 徳臣], at Bantamweight
Ikura Sadatsune (5-0-1, 2) [定常 育郎], at Super Bantamweight
Yoshimitsu Kimura (5-0, 3) [木村 吉光], at Featherweight
Hayato Enju (3-0, 3) [大野 俊人], at Light Welterweight
and Agoo Masaru (4-1-1, 2) [あぐ～マサル], at Middleweight.
