Earlier this week news broke that Elorde International Productions were planning a WBA "regular" Minimumweight title bout between former WBO champion Vic Saludar (20-4, 11) and the unbeaten Robert Paradero (18-0, 12). Today that bout was officially confirmed as being set, with the bout planned for December 5th.
The contest will be taking place at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex Philippines, Sucat, Paranaque City, but sadly the ballroom will not be packed with fans as the event has already been slated to be behind closed doors.
At the moment there are no other details regarding the rest of the show, but it is great to see promoters looking to get boxing back up and running in the Philippines, which hasn't seen any boxing in months, and has also seen ALA Boxing close.
In theory the winner of this match up will be in the running for a 2021 clash with Knockout CP Freshmart (21-0, 7) [น็อคเอาท์ ซีพีเฟรชมาร์ท]. Sadly though logic in boxing really never applies, and even less so in the current global situation. Still we would love to see a bout between either guy and Knockout, and there had actually been plans for Saludar to face Knockout, had he not lost the WBO title last year.
