We've known for a while that WOZ boxing would be promoting an exciting double header on September 16th on Kyoto. That show headlines bouts are both Japanese title fights as the unbeaten Shohei Omori defends his Bantamweight title against Hirofumi Mukai and the big punching Kota Tokunaga defends the the Lightweight title against Yuhei Suzuki, in what could be a very explosive clash.
Now we've been informed of another notable contest on this card as Japan's Ryotaro Kawabata (11-2-1, 5) takes on OPBF ranked Filipino visitor Lloyd Jardeliza (6-2-3, 5).
We'll admit we're unsure how the 20 year old Jardeliza has gotten an OPBF ranking, but the OPBF currently have him listed at at #6, as of the rankings in July. We know that will change by fight time but that's an awfully high ranking, especially considering his achievements so far,
Coming in to the bout Kawabata is unranked and will clearly see this as a great opportunity to move towards a title fight of his own. The Shinsei gym fighter is unbeaten in 4 fights, following a narrow loss to the always testing Mark John Yap, and was last seen stopping Ryuta Wakamatsu in March.
Whilst this isn't the most mouth watering of bouts it is a solid chief support bout to two fantastic domestic title bouts in what appears to be one of the better shows of the year for fans in Hyogo.
