It's been announced in the last 24 hours that Filipino veteran Dennis Laurente (49-5-5, 30) would be back in the ring on August 2nd, taking part in his first bout since last December. Not only was a date given for his next bout but saw too were the full details of the contest.
Laurente's upcoming bout will see him battle against the heavy handed John Jackson (19-2, 15) in what looks like a potentially explosive 10 round contest. The winner of the bout will be set to face the winner of a bout between Yudel Johnson (17-1, 9) and Jorge Cota (24-1, 22) later in the year as part of a small, but rewarding, WBC tournament.
From what we understand the show will air on "Bounce TV" from the Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida and will serve as a main supporting bout for a card that is set to be headlined by a bout between WBA Bantamweight "super"champion Juan Carlos Payano (16-0, 8) and unbeaten American Rau'shee Warren (13-0,-0-1 4), in what is a very poor world title bout given the depth in the division.
