Just 24 hours ago we suggested that the much talked about clash between Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9) and Hisashi Amagasa (28-4-2, 19) may not have been a done deal and the fact everything had gone quiet may not have been a good sign. We had said that we were hoping we were jumping the gun and that we had our fingers crossed that we were wrong...and boy does it look like we may have been wrong, very wrong.
The story over the last 24 hours has developed from "no news in Japan, could be a bad thing" to "Yup, this is all systems go, announcement to come soon!"
From what we understand the deal has been finalised with the bout to take place in Osaka between the two men with the Japanese fighter going down from Featherweight, where he holds the OPBF title, to fight at Super Bantamweight against Rigondeaux, who currently holds the WBA "super" and WBO titles.
