Since November 17th Japanese fighter Nobuhiro Ishida (26-10-2, 10) has been in the USA training to further prepare for his huge bout on December 27th against Kotatsu Takehara (10-10-3, 4). Whilst there he has further bulked up, now resembling a full fledged Heavyweight as opposed to a man who has blown up to make the weight, and has also spend serious time sparring with fellow Heavyweights.
For the 39 year old Ishida his up coming bout is a must win contest and should secure him a long awaited shot at the Japanese Heavyweight title. It however won't be an easy one and it's fair to say that Takehara won't be coming to make up the numbers.
In Ishida's previous Heavyweight bouts he has looked like a very small Heavyweight and struggled in the later rounds. We suspect those two issues will be what he has been working on with his US based training camp which could have helped him bulk up with out compromising his speed or stamina. It's still clear he'll not be a big puncher though he'll not be expecting that to change no matter how he trains for his upcoming bout.
