Tomorrow's "Strongest Korakuen" card is a genuinely exciting one for Japanese fans who in for 4 really well matched bouts. For fans outside of Japan however the will likely go under the radar, despite an appearance from the teak tough Nihito Arakawa (25-6-1, 16), who of course made his name internationally his bout with Omar Figueroa. The popular Arakawa will be up against recent Japanese title challenger Yuya Sugizaki (20-10-1, 6) in a bout to decide the next mandatory challenger to the Japanese crown.
On the scales on Sunday both men were bang on the 135lb divisional limit and both looked ready for a battle.
On paper it's hard to back Sugizaki however Arakawa has certainly had a hard career and it could well be that his wars, including the one with Figueroa, have caught up with him. One thing is for certain however, both men will be putting it all on the line when they get in the ring tomorrow with the hope of getting a bout with Kota Tokunaga next year.
