Next Sunday Japanese sensation Naoya Inoue (9-0, 8) [井上 尚弥] defending his WBO Super Flyweight title against mandatory challenger David Carmona (20-2-5, 8). Today, one week ahead of that fight, Inoue took part in a public training session.
The session saw a razor sharp Inoue really impress on the pads with his father, and trainer, Shingo Inoue and take part in some shadow boxing.
Whilst some would have wanted to see Inoue spar ahead of his upcoming bout it seems he has been busy doing that behind close doors with numerous notable sparring sessions taking place in recent weeks. That sparring has seen him, reportedly, break the elbow of the teak tough Takuya Watanabe [渡邉 卓也], who may regret blocking an Inoue body shot, and do things whilst sparring with 14Oz's gloves that manager Hideyuki Ohashi was blown away with.
Inoue has said that his weight is fine and that he's in the best condition of his career for this bout, again suggesting their is no rush to move up to Bantamweight, and that for this bout we will see more of his technical boxing ability.
For those who are looking forward to seeing the "Monster" in action next weekend it seems like he's looking to make a statement with his performance and things could be a little bit special.
